$3,397,273 SecuredKatherine Hall became Project 18 on the Greenwood County Penny Sales Tax List in 2016. Rehabilitation funds are scheduled to arrive from Greenwood County in April and July in 2024. The facility is scheduled to receive $3.397,273 for the rehabilitation of Katherine Hall. The rehabilitation process will begin in 2024.

Katherine Hall Preservation Committee 1
The Town of Ware Shoals selected seven people to serve on a committee to determine avenues for the preservation of Katherine Hall. The committee worked tirelessly to ensure this beautiful landmark is saved. Professional planners were contacted to initiate the beginning works of this project. Committee members toured a restored facility similar to Katherine Hall. During the tour, information was gained to inform best practices for preserving historic buildings such as our own Katherine Hall.
The following people are members of the Katherine Hall Preservation Committee:
The restoration of Katherine Hall was planned to be completed in phases due to the magnitude of the project. Information about the phases was planned to be determined upon the advice of experts. The committee submitted a grant application to the National Trust for Historic Preservation to conduct a needs assessment. The needs assessment provided a detailed description that would be used to established to map out the restoration of Katherine Hall.
The Katherine Hall Preservation, along with the Ware Shoals Town Council used the needs assessment that was written by Kyle Campbell from Preservation South to apply to be on the Greenwood County Penny Sales Tax. Mr. Campbell from Preservation South wrote the application to apply for the capital project. Katherine Hall was awarded by being Project 18 on the Greenwood County Penny Sales Tax. Katherine Hall will receive $3397,273 for the rehabilitation of Katherine Hall.
The Katherine Hall Preservation Committee completed their assignment requested by the Ware Shoals Town Council. The committee secured a needs assessment to determine the cost of rehabilitating Katherine Hall. The group also helped to gain funding for the rehabilitation of Katherine Hall by being selected by the Greenwood County Penny Sales Tax as project 18.

The Town Council from Ware Shoals, once again, selected a group of seven individual to help Katherine Hall to go from receiving rehabilitation funding to completing the project that will produce a rehabilitated Katherine Hall. The committee will work with the council to determine the use of the building and help with obtaining professionals to ensure the project is completed correctly.
